Here are a few photos I managed to take. I got there a little late, and missed most of the 10,000 or so students who marched by. Oh well... seen'em all before during the years as they were growing up...
It was hot, hot, hot as the parade took place in the midday sun. For the past couple of years it has started later and later, and this year they changed the route: much longer than before starting at La Fuente del Sol and coming down Avenida La Boquita to Benito Juárez. The spectators suffered almost as much as the marchers. Everyone I spoke with said they certainly hope they will not use the same route next year and that the parade will start earlier. For decades the parade's route has always been down Juan N. Alvarez, and it usually started around 9 or 10 at the latest. Hopefully it will take the old route next year and start at a decent and early hour so that the marchers and spectators don't suffer the biting heat of the midday sun.
Though we celebrate La Revolución Mexicana, most Mexicans seem to agree La Revolución has goals left unfulfilled. ;~)
¡Viva la Revolución!
¡Viva México!
¡Viva Zihuatanejo!
